PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to detail the Company’s overall intentions and direction in relation to the prevention of injury and ill health.

This statement recognises Renaissance Retirement’s obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all other national health and safety legislation.

APPLICABILITY

This document applies to all employees and contractors working for or on behalf of Renaissance Retirement.

POLICY

Renaissance Retirement recognises that sensible health and safety is a cornerstone of a civilised society, that risk can be adequately managed but never completely removed and that the management, employees and partners who are affected that risk are those best placed to manage it.

Renaissance Retirement provides high-quality apartments for the active retired and is an independent company based in Winchester. Renaissance Retirement operates in a very professional manner, and are recognised as an Investor in People Organisation and are certified to both the ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environmental) international standards.

We are committed to continual improvement and the prevention of injury and ill health and in support of this Renaissance Retirement shall ensure that:

All concerned with the activities of the company accept their responsibly for health, safety and welfare at work.

The management of health, safety and welfare is by a risk management and total loss approach.

Accidents and incidents are fully investigated and that a fair blame culture exists.

Sufficient resources are available for the adequate provision of health, safety and welfare in the workplace.

This policy, with its supporting Organisation and Arrangements sections is applied to all activities carried out by the Company.

We foster a safety culture in its employees.

All reasonably practicable steps are taken to ensure that people have a place of work that is safe, and without significant risk to health.

All employees are aware of their responsibilities for the implementation of the health, safety and welfare management system.

Everyone that the Company affects has suitable information, instruction, training and supervision.

We will co-operate in the implementation of health, safety and welfare provision with other organisations sharing premises in which the Company is operating.

We comply with the relevant health & safety, legal and other requirements that apply to our operations.

This Policy has been communicated to all employees working or on behalf of Renaissance Retirement and is published on our Company website.
