Anne’s full speed ahead on motorhome to continue her retirement lifestyle

After recently downsizing from a three-bed bungalow, 75 year old Anne Moore has continued to embrace retirement living and in particular outdoor living.

Anne, 75, has just purchased a motorhome to continue her passion for enjoying the great outdoors.

Anne, who moved into her Renaissance Retirement one bed apartment in Romsey last year, had access to one car park space. This proved an initial problem. A keen caravan and camper for over 25 years, Anne owned 'Connie' – a 14ft caravan – and a Volkswagen estate required to pull her. A 'lock up and leave' for Connie was the initial solution.

Anne had the bright idea of trading Connie and the VW in for a brand new mini motorhome, which would mean she could park at the development and wouldn't need to then drive to the lock up. She would have an 'all in one' vehicle.

Now, the proud owner of 'Millie', a 13ft motorhome gives Anne everything she needs. It boasts two beds, an oven, a grill, hot plate, sink and toilet.

"I'm totally self-sufficient and could go wild camping if I wanted to," Anne explained.

At the moment there are regular trips to the New Forest but Anne is planning a tour around the coast of Britain soon.

Every day is a bonus for Anne who suffered a brain haemorrhage in 2014 and spent days in a coma. With typical grit and determination, she pulled through after only been given a very slim chance of survival.

Anne moved from the village of Wellow into a spacious, one bed Renaissance Retirement apartment with vaulted ceilings and a large balcony overlooking Station Road with Broadlands in the distance.

"Choosing a Renaissance Retirement apartment was truly meant to be," said Anne. "I was initially a reluctant downsizer but not only was I looking for a personal 're-birth' (Renaissance translated from its French word) which was apt but I also used to work in the local council offices which occupied the site before it became a Renaissance development. In fact, my flat is exactly in the same spot as my old office – quite an uncanny coincidence really!"

Anne added: "I love it here – it's extremely friendly. All the owners are like minded and we have a great lifestyle."

"I'm over the moon. I absolutely love my apartment especially my large balcony which I call my 'garden in the sky'.

"I've been in a few months and my health is now better, my blood pressure has come down and I love the relaxed lifestyle here at Fleur-de-Lis. My flat is so spacious – my friends who visit are always so complimentary and surprised at the size."

Anne continued: "I've been made to feel so welcome by my fellow owners. Wellow was the centre of my world for over 44 years but being in the centre of Romsey has opened my eyes to a much better lifestyle for me. I wish I'd done it sooner.

"I used to rely on TV for entertainment. Here, I haven't switched it on for three weeks! I have so much to do. I look out of my balcony and watch the birds, the sky, the moon – there's always something to watch. It's fascinating.

Anne concluded: "I'm enjoying many of the activities here including all the events, parties, singing with the Fleurettes. I'm also active with the U3A in Romsey."
