Construction work starts of former council building in the centre of Romsey

Demolition has started of the former council buildings in Romsey. The three week process forms the start of construction to transform the site into a brand new luxury development for senior living on Dutton Road.

The developer behind the scheme, Renaissance Retirement, based in Ringwood, has indicated the 16 month build is scheduled to be completed in August 2016 and a Grand Opening planned for September 2016.

The luxury apartments, to be called Fleur-de-Lis Romsey, will comprise spacious 52 one and two bedroom apartments, some featuring stylish mezzanine floor spaces, together with a owners' lounge and guest suite. The luxurious properties will provide an exceptional standard of independent living for those considering downsizing from a larger family home.

Robert Taylor, Managing Director at Renaissance Retirement, said: “This is the number one location for senior living in Romsey. We are underway – finally. It’s great news to everyone who has been in touch wanting to buy one of our apartments. The Grand Opening will be a year away, but we will have regular information and a brochure to send out later this year.”

Nick Watkins, Development Director at Renaissance Retirement, added:  “This is a very exciting development in a stand out position. There are a number of retirement developments being built at the moment just outside the town, but with our prime location, in the heart of Romsey, it’s no wonder we have received considerable interest from potential buyers already."

With Renaissance’s heritage dating back to the first retirement apartments at HRH Prince of Wales’ flagship Poundbury development in Dorchester, the 52 apartments will provide luxurious living spaces ideally suited for downsizers looking to maintain a quality standard of independent living.

Noticing a demand for luxury retirement housing in the region, Renaissance Retirement design, build and manage luxury retirement developments, with communal areas meticulously cleaned and maintained to ensure a level of comfort that one would expect in a 4 star hotel.

Renaissance Retirement has made its name in the South of England, initially at Poundbury and most recently in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. New developments launched recently launched  include sites in Christchurch.
