Gillian reserves ‘spacious’ retirement apartment in the centre of Wantage

Space was very important for Gillian Herd when she decided to reserve a retirement apartment in Wantage.

After all, Gillian, who celebrated her 80th birthday last year, will be moving out of her 18th century, six bedroom house.

Gilian has just reserved a brand new apartment being built on Church Street by Renaissance Retirement. The two bed apartment on the first floor at the Fleur-de-Lis development has a lovely feeling of space which, moving from 4,520 square feet house, Gillian felt was vital.

"The apartment is lovely and spacious – and the prefect size for me. I didn't want to leave the Wantage area and being close to town was important. The location couldn't be better as I can walk in easily."

Gillian added: "I don't need all that room in the house any more. I have lots of lovely family memories which I'll take with me to my new flat. I'm now really looking forward to moving in."

Less than 500 steps to the main square and a central location are just two of the reasons Renaissance Retirement has reserved four apartments off plan last month with considerable interest from downsizers.

Matt Smith, Sales Director Designate at Renaissance Retirement, said; "We are delighted Mrs Herd has reserved and taken the first steps to becoming an owner at Fleur-de-Lis Wantage. I'm sure she'll be very happy.

Renaissance Retirement is holding an off plan sales event at Milton Hill hotel on Thursday 20th April from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Renaissance is now selling off plan – prices start from £250,000 to £475,000. The company is planning for first occupation in Autumn 2017.

Renaissance Retirement has designed the development to be sympathetic to its surrounding to ensure the correct detailing is used to reflect and work in harmony with the local surroundings.

Matt added: "The design has taken into account the attractive and diverse townscape to this part of Church Street and preserved views to the church tower. The use of materials and architectural styles which relate to the town's key buildings within the conservation area help the development sit comfortably within its historic surroundings."
