New apartment ideal for ‘lock up and leave’ lifestyle, say Torbay retired couple

A Torbay couple who have moved into a new Renaissance Retirement apartment in Paignton say it's ideal for their 'jet set' lifestyle.

David and Jan Ellacott live on the beautiful English Riviera for six months of the year before flying out to their second home in Cyprus to avoid the English winter.

The Ellacotts bought a one bed apartment on the second floor with cathedral high ceilings, giving the apartment a real sense of space and volume.

The 38 spacious one and two bedroom apartments next to Victoria Park offer a number of special features including balconies, en-suite bathrooms, patios and mezzanine galleries.

David said: "We were looking for a lock up and leave apartment in Torbay and after viewing several retirement options we fell in love with the Renaissance development on Courtland Road. We spend the spring and summer in Torbay and then fly out to Cyprus to get away from the English winter. It's the perfect lifestyle for us as we get the best of both worlds."

Having lived on a farm in North Devon before moving to Torbay ten years ago, David and Jan were able to decorate their new home with some of their much loved and treasured vintage memorabilia and collectors' items.

David added: "We've brought a bit of our former interior design with us which we love! The development and flat is perfect for us – it is very secure and we know it will be safe while we are away.

"One of the main advantages of being located on Courtland Road was how close to the park it is, as well as the shops, beach and bus stops into town. In fact, you don't really need a car to get around Torbay with this as a base! It's also flat and having lived on a hill that's a big positive."

Jan said: "We've been particularly impressed with the quality of finish inside the development and apartments. You can't fault it. It really is a superior development."
