Renaissance owners bowled over by retirement flat in Romsey

Not many people would buy a new home without even seeing it.

But Eric and Eira Fazackerley did just that, trusting their daughter to pick out the most suitable apartment for them in a new Romsey retirement development.

The couple, who were living in Lancashire, have just moved into a ground floor, one bedroom flat at Renaissance Retirement’s new development on Duttons Road in Romsey.

Ex headmaster Eric, 83, said: “Our daughter lives in Romsey and we just left it to her. We totally trusted her judgement and she didn’t let us down!”

“We couldn’t be more pleased. As soon as we set foot into our apartment we knew we were home. It suits us perfectly and we haven’t looked back. We love Romsey – lots of individual independent shops plenty and Waitrose is our local shop.”

Eira, 79, added: “We have been so impressed by the finish and quality of the development.  It’s so tastefully done. We now don’t have the worry about the maintenance of a bigger house which was getting us down. We now see our family a lot more too which is wonderful.”

Since moving in, Eric and Eira have already integrated with their fellow owners. Both keen bowlers, they have initiated an indoor bowls club in the owners’ lounge.

Eric added: “Quite a few of the owners have tried our indoor bowls and it’s been well received. I’m sure by the end of the year we are hopeful to start an indoor league!”

Chris Wotton, marketing director at Renaissance Retirement, said: “We are delighted that Eric and Eira have settled in so well and thank them for bring the bowls with them. I’ve already had several games of indoor bowls with Eric and have come off second best!”

Renaissance Retirement’s Romsey development is now over 60 per cent sold. The Grand Opening is planned for 19th and 20th November.
