Tea party is big success at Fleur-de-Lis Abingdon

A traditional English cream tea was once again the icing on the cake at Renaissance Retirement’s Wootton Road development event in Abingdon.

Potential buyers and owners helped staff celebrate the company’s one year anniversary at its Fleur- de-Lis retirement development.

Owners joined Renaissance Retirement’s Concierge, Rachael Galloway, director Nick Watkins and consultant Cheryl McWilliam for the weekend entertainment.

Being the only new retirement development in Abingdon for decades, the development has proved very popular and 85 per cent of apartments have been sold with only four one bedroom apartments left to sell.

Nick Watkins, development director at Renaissance Retirement said: “It was a lovely tea party and we had quite a few potential buyers drop in and mix with our owners, which worked very well. I think everyone had a really good time – it was a brilliant event.

“We are now doing some very special deals on the remaining apartments. There hasn’t been a better time to buy a new retirement flats. We are hopeful for some immediate reservations.”

Nick added:  “Potential buyers are being attracted to our Abingdon development for a number of reasons. The location is ideal and there are very few new retirement apartments for sale in the area.”

Over 80 per cent of the Abingdon retirement flats have been sold to local people living in or near Abingdon. There are a number of factors for owners downsizing with added security, ease of living and family living locally being the main reasons for buying.

Having noticed an increase in demand for luxury retirement housing, Renaissance design, build and manage top end retirement developments, with communal areas of the sites meticulously cleaned and maintained to ensure a level of comfort that one would expect in a 4 star hotel.

Current owner, Rex Paske, 77, said: “It’s wonderful living here – I couldn’t be happier and the best decision I made. I don’t have the issues of security and up-keep of a big house and I’m near my family in Abingdon which means I see them more. All the owners are very friendly and we try and look out for each other.”

New owners opting to use the fully inclusive service benefit from the expertise of their own SmoothMove Consultant, who can offer advice and assistance with downsizing, the planning and setting up of their new home and take care of the often time consuming administration of arranging new utility services. SmoothMove also includes a complimentary removal service to transport your existing possessions to your new home.

Renaissance built the first retirement development at HRH Prince of Wales’ Poundbury development in Dorchester which was very well received and is synonymous with a quality build.
